SUD and Pregnancy Certificate Program Registration Confirmation
 
Thank you for registering for the Substance Use and Pregnancy Certificate Program through WI CONNECT.  This certificate provides evidence-based information on substance use and pregnancy and a framework to understand the short- and long-term effects of a variety of drugs on mother and child.  These activities supplement other professional training and provide an opportunity to develop an Action Plan to take back to your agency to strengthen opportunities for clients and their families. 
 
This training requires 30 hours of activity including self-study, live web-based training, the development of your Action Plan, and evaluation.                
 
Prior to attending the live group sessions via Zoom on February 22 and 23, 2022, the following self-study must be completed.  The Self-Study Feedback Survey is due Tuesday, February 8th at 5 pm CST. Access the Feedback Survey in the button below.
 
SELF STUDY: (11 Hours)

TO DO: Complete online courses/videos and self-study feedback survey.

  3. Supporting Your Collaborative When Planning for Safe Care for Infants with Prenatal Substance Exposure Webinar (Access)
 
TO DO: Complete reading assignments and the questions on the self-study feedback survey.

  1. Developmental Consequences of Fetal Exposure to Drugs: What we Know and  What we Still Must Learn (2015, Neuropsychopharmacology, 40(1), 61-87). (Access)
  2. Stimulant Use in Pregnancy: An Under-Recognized Epidemic Among Pregnant Women (2019, Clin Obstet Gynecol, 62, 168-184). (Access)
  3. Neonatal Opioid Withdrawal Syndrome (2020, Pediatrics, 146(5)). (Access)
  4. Parenting and Addiction: Neurobiological Insights (2017, Current Opinion in Psychology, 15:55-60). (Access)

**Please Note**
You will not be able to continue to the Live Web-Based Session if you do not finish and submit all of Section 1 Self Study activities, listed above by February 8th at 5pm CST. 
Once you submit your self-study surveys you will receive the Zoom link for the Live Sessions. 

Self-Study

LIVE WEBINARS (8 Hours)
 
TO DO: Participate in two 4-hour web-based training/sharing sessions. Examples of activities include:
  1. Round table discussions of completed course work led by participants
  2. Expanded content on areas: Substance Use During Pregnancy
  3. Introduction to your course project: Action Plan
  4. Exploration of current gaps in services
 
ACTION PLAN DEVELOPMENT (10.5 Hours)
 
TO DO: Develop a detailed Action Plan for your agency to address an aspect of substance use and pregnancy that will enhance services in your agency.  Ideas include screening for FASD in clients and making appropriate service modifications, providing education about NAS/NOW, enhancing education to clients about the effects of drugs on pregnancy, etc. This action plan will be due on or before April 22, 2022. 

​To earn certificate of completion, you will be required to present your action plan project on June 9th, 2022.
 
COURSE EVALUATION (.5 Hour)
 
TO DO: Complete a post-training evaluation. An evaluation link will provided to you once you complete the certificate.
