Meet the Team
Picture
David Wargowski, M.D.
David Wargowski, M.D. is Professor of Pediatrics and Chief of the Division of Genetics and Metabolism at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, and Director of the Genetics and Metabolism Program at the Waisman Center. He was the Principal Investigator for the Wisconsin FASD Practice and Implementation Center for Pediatrics, in partnership with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  He previously served on the joint CDC-AAP Expert Panel which developed the AAP toolkit on FASDs.  He has also served as Medical Director and consultant for a number of FASD surveillance, intervention and prevention projects in Wisconsin during more than 26 years of medical practice. Dr. Wargowski is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School, the University of Virginia Children’s Medical Center Residency Program in Pediatrics, and the Medical Genetics Residency Program at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. His primary clinical activity is the evaluation and management of children and adults with congenital anomalies and developmental disorders, including those caused by prenatal exposure to alcohol.

GEORGIANA WILTON, PHD
Dr. Wilton has been a consultant since her retirement in 2017 as a Senior Scientist in the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Family Medicine and Community Health. Her career of over 30 years has focused on the prevention, identification, and treatment of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).  Her clinical research included randomized trials on screening and brief intervention to reduce the risk of an alcohol-exposed pregnancy. 

​Georgiana has extensive experience developing and conducting brief alcohol interventions with women at risk and providing training to clinicians on brief intervention techniques.  She has developed and conducted numerous educational programs locally and nationally including certificate programs in FASD targeted towards clinicians, women’s treatment providers and other social services professionals.
